(jeweils zwei Stunden), Baltimore, dem zweitgrößten Hafen der Ostküste (45 Minuten), Harrisburg, der Hauptstadt des Bundesstaates (30 Minuten), und den Küsten von Delaware und Maryland (drei Stunden). Yorks Platz in der Geschichte: Im »Colonial Court House« verfasste und verabschiedete während des Unabhängigkeitskrieges die Vertretung der 13 Kolonien die »Articles of Confederation«. In diesem Dokument tauchte zum ersten Mal der Name »United States of America« auf. Es war der Vorläufer der amerikanischen Verfassung.
